Clean rooms are precisely what they sound like, a clean room. Cleanrooms have nine classifications created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) based on the particle concentration of contaminants in the air. Class 1 rooms have one particle for every 0.5 micrometers of cubic space. Class 10 rooms have 10 particles for every 0.5 micrometers, and so on, up to Class 100,000. The class number represents the maximum amount of >0.5 um particles allowed in 0.5 cubic micrometers.
