DockStar supplies heavy-duty loading dock bumpers designed to protect dock walls, levelers, seals and trailers from repeated vehicle impact. Choose from laminated rubber, molded rubber, steel-faced and SLIDE-effect® dock bumpers for new installations or replacement applications.
When you think about the job dock bumpers do (they get hit by trucks over and over… and over), paying as little as possible for them would seem to make sense. The question is, by saving a little now, will you be paying a lot later? The answer for high-traffic docks, is that the right bumpers can save money, reduce maintenance, avoid dock closures and minimize hassle long past the purchase period.
Dock bumpers save docks. And trailers. And money.
Properly positioned and maintained, dock bumpers protect: trailers being loaded, the loading dock (including concrete foundation), and all dock equipment (eg dock leveler, dock seal, etc.) The damage that results from an inadequately protected dock can add up fast.

SLIDE-effect® Loading Dock Bumpers Reduce Abrasive Wear
Traditional dock bumpers can wear quickly when trailers move vertically during loading and unloading. The SLIDE-effect® dock bumper is designed to move with the trailer, helping reduce friction, tearing and premature rubber wear.
This sliding action makes it a strong choice for high-cycle loading docks, distribution centers and facilities where trailer movement places excessive stress on standard bumpers. By reducing abrasive contact, SLIDE-effect® bumpers can help extend bumper service life while maintaining dependable protection for the dock face, building and trailer.
Ideal for demanding loading dock applications
- Helps reduce friction caused by vertical trailer movement
- Designed for high-traffic and high-cycle loading docks
- Helps minimize tearing, shredding and accelerated bumper wear
- Protects the dock wall, building and nearby dock equipment
- Provides a durable alternative to traditional fixed dock bumpers
When standard loading dock bumpers wear out too quickly, SLIDE-effect® provides a smarter approach to impact protection.
Dock Bumper Replacement
Replacement Loading Dock Bumpers
Worn, cracked or missing loading dock bumpers can expose your dock wall, dock leveler and trailers to unnecessary impact damage. DockStar can help you identify the correct replacement dock bumper based on your existing dimensions, mounting configuration, traffic level and application requirements.
When Should Loading Dock Bumpers Be Replaced?
Dock bumpers should be inspected regularly and replaced when they no longer provide consistent protection or maintain the required distance between the trailer and dock face.
- Rubber is cracked, split, compressed or visibly deteriorated
- Laminated pads are separating or missing sections
- Steel facing is bent, loose or excessively worn
- Mounting bolts, angles or plates are damaged or corroded
- The trailer is contacting the dock wall or nearby equipment
- The bumper projection no longer matches the dock application
- Existing bumpers are undersized for current traffic conditions
How to Measure an Existing Dock Bumper
Providing accurate measurements and a clear photo can help identify a suitable replacement more quickly.
- Measure the overall width of the dock bumper.
- Measure the overall height from top to bottom.
- Measure the projection from the dock wall to the bumper face.
- Record the mounting-hole spacing and bracket dimensions.
- Note whether the bumper is mounted horizontally or vertically.
- Photograph the bumper, mounting hardware and surrounding dock area.

Choosing the Right Loading Dock Bumper for Your Facility
Not all loading docks operate the same, which is why it’s important to choose bumpers that align with your workflow, traffic volume, and building design. Molded rubber dock bumpers offer a compact and economical solution for light to medium traffic docks. For high-volume docks or facilities with frequent trailer movement, laminated dock bumpers provide added thickness and shock absorption. If you’re dealing with aggressive docking or vertical trailer movement, a steel-faced bumper offers extra resistance to wear and tear over time. We also offer specialty configurations such as extra-thick bumpers, loading dock corner bumpers, and extended-length options to cover wider dock openings. If you need help choosing the right product, our team is available to guide you through sizing, mounting options, and application-specific solutions.
| Dock Bumper Type | Best For | Main Benefit | Typical Traffic Level |
